Laura Foster

Laura Foster is a textile based artist in the West Midlands, currently studying at Birmingham City University. Her more recent work is titled 'Dark Nature' where she explores both nature and dark natured things through a collection of head pieces and masks. The collection has a range of textures but still has a cohesiveness. Having a love for fashion, she fuses this with art to create the range of masks using a variety of materials like beads, studs, PVC and more recently a 3D pen. Using these tactile materials strengthens the link between fashion and art. She includes different forms of nature like thorns, water and flowers, and combined with the materials she uses, this allows her to create various textures. She draws inspiration from fashion designers Alexander McQueen and Iris Van Herpen, who have clear links to nature and innovative design, as well as life cycles and nature.
